Summary Of The Text
After discovering that the man wearing Grandpa's yellow cap is actually a stranger, Ravi rushes back to the barber shop and the park to look for Grandpa, but he cannot find him anywhere. He becomes extremely worried because his mother had left him responsible for taking care of Grandpa. Ravi tries to call both his parents from a telephone booth, but the lines are busy. Feeling frightened and guilty, he returns home, hoping that Grandpa has safely found his way back.
To Ravi's great relief, he hears Grandpa peacefully snoring in his bedroom. Overcome with love and concern, Ravi hugs his grandfather but decides not to question him because he would have to admit that he had secretly followed him.
When Ravi's mother returns from work, she asks what they did during the day. Grandpa mischievously tells her that Ravi disappeared instead of staying home to look after him, leaving Ravi confused and embarrassed.
Grandpa then surprises everyone by giving gift-wrapped presents to Ravi, his parents, and explaining that he always gives gifts to every child in the house on his own birthday. To his great delight and relief, the first thing he heard when he opened the front door was the gentle whirr of Grandpa snoring in his bedroom.
